The Location

A calming wind makes its way down 25th Street in DC’s Georgetown neighborhood. The leaves of the yellow oak trees that line the street shake gently, like thousands of pieces of crinkled paper floating in the breeze.

Unlike the countless other streets that make up this grid city, this one is different.

Just a stone’s throw from some of DC’s most iconic monuments and landmarks, this street in the city’s Northwest quadrant is also home to one of its best kept secrets: The River Inn.

A member of the Modus Hotels family, the boutique hotel has remained one of DC’s longest standing treasures.

A pinnacle of relaxation and serenity in the midst of one of the nation’s most bustling cities, guests can experience the truest feeling of a “home-away-from-home.”

Featuring full kitchens (fridge, a microwave, stovetop, oven, and dining ware), in addition to spacious living and dining spaces in each suite, guests can stock the fridge with groceries for delivery via the Trader Joe’s down the street, or order room service from The River Inn’s signature restaurant, DISH + Drinks.

Dining

Conveniently located just off of the hotel’s main lobby, DISH + Drinks is a chic yet lively spot that serves up classic American fare with a contemporary twist.

Made from fresh and local meat and produce, DISH + Drinks features colorful and unique plates such as the “Ahi Tuna Tartare”,”Duck Confit Spring Rolls”, and “Maine Diver Scallops” over a bed of creamy saffron risotto (a personal favorite).

For spirits, the “Afterthought” with fresh-squeezed grapefruit juice and pamplemousse, and the “District Blossom” with creme de violette, gin, and fresh lemon juice are highly recommended.

DISH + Drinks is open for breakfast (7 am – 10am), lunch (11:30am – 2:30pm), and dinner (5pm – 10pm) Monday through Friday, breakfast (8am-11am) and dinner on Saturday, and breakfast (8am – 11am) on Sunday.

Late Night

For guests that enjoy late-night rendezvous in the form of a strong nightcap, they can make their way across town to one of The River Inn’s sister hotels, Pod Hotel DC — a jewel hidden beneath its chic Chinatown exterior.

Just a few steps from Chinatown’s famous friendship arch, Crimson Whiskey Bar sits nestled in an underground cocktail cavern, surrounded by hundreds of bottles of some of the world’s most sought after spirits.

A happy-hour-turned-late-night kind of spot, tea lights and rustic hardwood floors and wall accents set a low-key but high-energy ambiance. Pairing perfectly with the soothing sips of sweet bourbon, each of Crimson’s rooms has an earthy and relaxing vibe.

From small bites of Pap’s pimento cheese dip to cheese boards piled high with Virginia ham, their menu is the epitome of Southern comfort.

For sips, guests can have their pick between rows of moonshine, rye whiskey, spiced rum, bourbon, mezcal, vodka, or gin (or all of the above). These can be served neat on the rocks, in of the the Bar’s 15 signature cocktails, or in a double shot glass.

Health + Wellness

With endless food and beverage options, it’s easy to side step exercise. Luckily, The River Inn has guests covered in that department, too. Through a partnership with Georgetown Yoga, hotel guests have unlimited access to in-studio classes that are less than a 10-minute walk away. For those who enjoy a good run, the hotel provides guided routes around a number of the city’s most iconic sites.

From grocery delivery to unlimited exercise classes, to exceptional culinary creations and late-night bourbon on the rocks, The River Inn by Modus Hotels welcomes their guests home.
