Hotel Review: NYC’s Library Hotel Collection

When it comes to planning a trip to the Big Apple, it can be a daunting task trying to decide when, where, and how to book a hotel.

With so many options to choose from, selecting a hotel with a convenient location that also offers all of the essential home-away-from-home amenities can sometimes seem near impossible.

For readers who prefer to swap out the option of a national hotel chain for a more personalized experience, I would like to introduce you to one one of East Coast Contessa’s newest partners: the Library Hotel Collection.

I recently had the pleasure of experiencing a weekend ‘staycation’ at two of Library Hotel’s most popular Manhattan boutiques. What’s most unique about theย Library Hotel Collection’s properties is that each one of their hotels has a different theme accompanied by exquisite interior designs. They currently have four properties located in Manhattan, one in Budapest, Hungary, one in Prague, Czech Republic, and a new one in Toronto which will premier in 2017.

My first stop was the flagshipย Library Hotel. As one might have guessed, the hotel’s theme is books (quite fitting given that the hotel is located just steps away from the famous New York Public Library). With an endless amount of books to choose from – all from New York City’s historic Strand Book Store – at any given moment, Library Hotel is a book lover’s dream, indeed!

Enchantment can be found on every floor – and in every individual room – with its own theme. I stayed on the top floor, coined the “Religion” floor and was assigned the “African Religions” themed room. Giant body pillows line each of the beds that read “Book Lovers Never Go to Bed Alone.” How cute is that?

Once I was settled into my room, I decided I could use a drink, and lucky for me, I didn’t need to go far to get one!

One of the most appealing amenities of all of the Library Hotel Collection properties, is that they offer a complimentary wine and cheese reception for guests from 5-8 pm EST every night.

That’s right. Every. Night.

I hurried down to the second floor to take part in the festivities and it was even better than what was expected. They offered a beautiful buffet of endless of amounts of wine, cheese, crackers, cookies, veggies and more! Check out part of the beautiful display below:

Feeling tipsy off some delicious wine, I decided to check out the Library Hotel’s rooftop garden bar, Bookmarks. I was greeted by the most friendly Bartender, Omette Matte, who graciously hooked me up with his refreshing “Lost In Paradise” frozen cocktail. I can’t stress enough how instantly relaxed I feltย once we stepped onto the most charming rooftop in NYC with the most perfect drink in hand.

After a few more drinks, I decided to turn in for the night and snuggle into my comfortable and clean bed. The next morning, I woke up feeling well-rested and ready to start my day full of adventures!

When I could finally talk myself into getting out of my warm bed and plush robe (the struggle was real!), I went downstairs to feast on the hotel’s complimentary continental breakfast.

There is no exaggeration when we say that this was one of the best continental breakfasts I’ve ever had. With options of cereal, hot coffee and cappuccino, fresh-squeezed juice, baked chocolate croissants and bagels, an oatmeal bar, and assorted fruit, there was no shortage of choices.

To end my stay at the Library Hotel, I grabbed a cup of coffee, picked out a good book (that I got to keep as a fond reminder of my visit), and made my way to the rooftop to further enjoy more breathtaking views of the NY Public Library until check out at 1 pm.

While sad to leave, I was excited to see what their sister property had in store. To book an upcoming stay and to view room rates and availability at the Library Hotel, click here.

If thereโ€™s one thing Iโ€™ve learned from years of traveling, itโ€™s that sometimes less is more โ€” especially when it comes to packing. {ad}

These days, Iโ€™ve definitely been utilizing carry onโ€™s rather than checking a bag but, Iโ€™m not exactly the lightest packer ๐Ÿคญ so Iโ€™ve had to master the art of maximizing less space.

If I learned anything during my recent trip to @visitchatt, itโ€™s that thereโ€™s so much more to the city than meets the eye. Itโ€™s home to some of the most popular attractions in the US, sure, but it also boasts plenty of hidden gems and unique local experiences. Add these 5 locations to your Chattanooga itinerary (you wonโ€™t regret it!):

- Tennessee Aquarium @tennesseeaquarium. Home to more than 12,000 animals representing close to 800 species, it features two sections (Ocean and River) and is one of the largest aquariums in the U.S.
- 1885 Grill @1885grillstelmo. This southern coastal restaurant specializes in fresh seafood, high quality steaks, and comforting soul food. Order their wings with Carolina Gold BBQ!
- Rock City Gardens @seerockcity. Located on Lookout Mountain, Rock City Gardens features a 4,100-foot Enchanted Trail with incredible rock formations, magical caves, native plant species, waterfalls, and a panoramic view of Seven States!
- Masseyโ€™s Kitchen @masseyskitchenlookout. This Mediterranean inspired restaurant just opened in June and is Chattanoogaโ€™s new hot spot. The food is incredible and their outdoor patio is perfect for dining al fresco. Order the baked feta ๐Ÿคค
- The Read House Hotel @readhousehotel. This historic jazz era hotel from the 1870โ€™s has hosted famous people including Oprah, Winston Churchill, Walt Disney, and Elvis Presley. Itโ€™s even rumored to have a permanent guest โ€” a ghost in room 311!

Keep an eye out for Part 3 and let me know which location you would visit first! ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ {ad} #hosted

If youโ€™re looking for the perfect end of summer U.S. vacation destination, Chattanooga, Tennessee is it. @visitchatt ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ

I recently spent a few days exploring this lively town for the first time, and unsurprisingly found so much to love about it. If youโ€™re planning a trip to the U.S. soon โ€” or you live here and want to explore more of your own backyard โ€” you wonโ€™t regret putting it on your travel bucket list.

To help you plan, below are 5 things not to miss when in The Scenic City:

๐Ÿ“Ruby Falls (@rubyfallscave) Millions of years old but discovered in 1928, itโ€™s the largest underground waterfall in the U.S., and is located more than 1,120 feet under the surface.
๐Ÿ“Wildflower Tea Shop & Apothecary (@wildflowerteashop) This whimsical vegan-friendly coffee and tea shop stocks a wide variety of loose leaf teas and herbs and other locally made products. I recommend getting the Iced Chocolate Chai with oat milk for a cold treat!
๐Ÿ“Lookout Mountain Incline Railway (@ridetheincline) With a 72.7% grade, itโ€™s one of the steepest passenger railways in the world. The ride is well worth it with stunning views of Lookout Mountain from the top!
๐Ÿ“Frazier Five and Dime (@frazierfiveanddime) Anything you order at this North Shore eatery will be 10/10, but I especially loved the street corn with hot Funyuns and the cheesy cauliflower au gratin ๐Ÿคค
๐Ÿ“Walnut Street Bridge. With a 1/2-mile span, itโ€™s one of the longest pedestrian bridges in the world and provides amazing view of the riverfront.

Which location would you visit first? Let me know in the comments below, and stay tuned for parts 2 + 3!

Welcome to one of the most underrated southern cities in the U.S.: @visitchatt!

While most travelers flock to Music City year after year, just a couple hours drive southeast youโ€™ll find a true gem hidden in the lively city of Chattanooga, Tennessee.

Hereโ€™s some fun facts about the โ€œThe Scenic Cityโ€:

โœง MoonPies were invented here! These graham cracker marshmallow sandwiches are covered entirely in melted chocolate and are so delicious.

โœง Itโ€™s home to the Incline Railway, one of the steepest passenger railway lines in the world!

โœง Chattanooga boasts one of the largest collections of American art in the country at the Hunter Museum.

โœง One of the world's longest pedestrian bridges can also be found in Chattanooga.

Iโ€™ll be sharing more from my time in @visitchatt, and you can also see what I experienced there by clicking on my Chattanooga highlight badge above.
