Hotel Review: NYC’s Library Hotel Collection

When it comes to planning a trip to the Big Apple, it can be a daunting task trying to decide when, where, and how to book a hotel.

With so many options to choose from, selecting a hotel with a convenient location that also offers all of the essential home-away-from-home amenities can sometimes seem near impossible.

For readers who prefer to swap out the option of a national hotel chain for a more personalized experience, I would like to introduce you to one one of East Coast Contessa’s newest partners: the Library Hotel Collection.

I recently had the pleasure of experiencing a weekend ‘staycation’ at two of Library Hotel’s most popular Manhattan boutiques. What’s most unique about theย Library Hotel Collection’s properties is that each one of their hotels has a different theme accompanied by exquisite interior designs. They currently have four properties located in Manhattan, one in Budapest, Hungary, one in Prague, Czech Republic, and a new one in Toronto which will premier in 2017.

My first stop was the flagshipย Library Hotel. As one might have guessed, the hotel’s theme is books (quite fitting given that the hotel is located just steps away from the famous New York Public Library). With an endless amount of books to choose from – all from New York City’s historic Strand Book Store – at any given moment, Library Hotel is a book lover’s dream, indeed!

Enchantment can be found on every floor – and in every individual room – with its own theme. I stayed on the top floor, coined the “Religion” floor and was assigned the “African Religions” themed room. Giant body pillows line each of the beds that read “Book Lovers Never Go to Bed Alone.” How cute is that?

Once I was settled into my room, I decided I could use a drink, and lucky for me, I didn’t need to go far to get one!

One of the most appealing amenities of all of the Library Hotel Collection properties, is that they offer a complimentary wine and cheese reception for guests from 5-8 pm EST every night.

That’s right. Every. Night.

I hurried down to the second floor to take part in the festivities and it was even better than what was expected. They offered a beautiful buffet of endless of amounts of wine, cheese, crackers, cookies, veggies and more! Check out part of the beautiful display below:

Feeling tipsy off some delicious wine, I decided to check out the Library Hotel’s rooftop garden bar, Bookmarks. I was greeted by the most friendly Bartender, Omette Matte, who graciously hooked me up with his refreshing “Lost In Paradise” frozen cocktail. I can’t stress enough how instantly relaxed I feltย once we stepped onto the most charming rooftop in NYC with the most perfect drink in hand.

After a few more drinks, I decided to turn in for the night and snuggle into my comfortable and clean bed. The next morning, I woke up feeling well-rested and ready to start my day full of adventures!

When I could finally talk myself into getting out of my warm bed and plush robe (the struggle was real!), I went downstairs to feast on the hotel’s complimentary continental breakfast.

There is no exaggeration when we say that this was one of the best continental breakfasts I’ve ever had. With options of cereal, hot coffee and cappuccino, fresh-squeezed juice, baked chocolate croissants and bagels, an oatmeal bar, and assorted fruit, there was no shortage of choices.

To end my stay at the Library Hotel, I grabbed a cup of coffee, picked out a good book (that I got to keep as a fond reminder of my visit), and made my way to the rooftop to further enjoy more breathtaking views of the NY Public Library until check out at 1 pm.

While sad to leave, I was excited to see what their sister property had in store. To book an upcoming stay and to view room rates and availability at the Library Hotel, click here.

Wanna know one of my new favorite places in the U.S. to road trip? The location may surpise you! ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ

I recently spent a few adventurous days in Summersville, West Virginia with @visitgreatersummersville with @wvtourism, and found *so much* to love about this little slice of #AlmostHeaven. It may be small in population, but it packs a mighty punch when it comes to nature, outdoor activities, and an impressive local food scene. Not only is it home to the largest lake in West Virginia, it boasts two state parks, great hiking trails, and is less than a 30 minute drive from the newest National Park in the U.S.: New River Gorge National Park and Preseve.

If youโ€™re planning on visiting for yourself (which you should) below are 5 Fun & Unique activities that you absolutely canโ€™t miss in Summersville, West Virginia:

1. Kayak on Summersville Lake with @lakesideoutfitterswv. This is one of the best ways to enjoy the lake and surrounding rock formations. The water is crystal clear, and is the most beautiful emerald green color. Itโ€™s actually known as โ€œThe Little Bahamas of the Eastโ€ and for good reason!
2. Visit the Almost Heaven Swing at Summersville Lake State Park. This is the newest state park in the area. While itโ€™s still under construction, there are some great trails, and of course, one of West Virginiaโ€™s famous (and Insta-worthy) swings!
3. Have brunch at @vaultonmain. Itโ€™s located in downtown Summersville in the stunning former Nicholas County Bank building from 1923. Order the French toast and shaved steak breakfast burrito.
4. Spend a day at Battle Run Public Beach. The longest beach in West Virginia at 1,000 feet, the area has picnic tables, restrooms, grills, volleyball nets, and plenty of space for lounging.
5. Enjoy a wine slushy flight from @gaddambrewing. This super fun brewery serves up craft beer, premium coffees, real fruit smoothies, and super cute wine slushy flights. They also offer live music and country line dancing on select nights. Bonus: itโ€™s family-friendly!

Which of these activities would you enjoy first? Let me know below and stay tuned for part 2! #WVTourism #WVTourismPartner
Have you ever received an expensive data roaming bill after a trip abroad? Yepโ€ฆme too. #ad

Have you wasted time anxiously looking for an eSIM vendor at a crowded airport? (Iโ€™ve done this in the past, too ๐Ÿคฆ๐Ÿฝโ€โ™€๏ธ) Both were expensive and hard lessons learned, but thankfully Iโ€™ve since discovered @airalocom!

@airalocom is the worldโ€™s first digital eSIM store that solves the pain of potentially high roaming bills. Using Airalo is super easy, too. Simply download the app, select your digital eSIM from more than 200+ countries and regions, install, and be connected with the outside world the second you land. With data plans starting at just $4.50, thereโ€™s really no reason not to give it a try!

Use my code ๐‚๐Ž๐๐“๐„๐’๐’๐€๐Ÿ‘ for $3 off your first purchase on Airalo.

Safe travels! โœˆ๏ธ

A visit to Yosemite National Park really is like living in a dream ๐Ÿฅบ

I recently spent a week in eastern Central California exploring @yosemitenps for the first time, and I must say it definitely earned a spot in my personal โ€œTop 3 U.S. National Parksโ€ category!

Some canโ€™t miss spots in the park that are highlighted in the reel:

- El Capitan / El Capitan Meadow
- Bridalveil Falls
- Half-Dome
- Glacier Point Overlook
- Yosemite Valley
- Hetch Hetchy (road is open year round, but may close intermittently due to snow depending on the time of year)

As always, for your safety and to protect Yosemiteโ€™s delicate ecosystems, always stay on designated trails. If encountered, give wildlife plenty of space and do not approach. Do not disturb or remove archeological or historical objects from where they reside. Leave the park even more beautiful than you found it for future visitors ๐Ÿฉต

**Reservations are required to drive into or through the park on certain dates / holidays through Oct 27, 2024. Additional reservations are made available seven days before the arrival date at 8 am Pacific time, but go quickly. For more information visit https://www.nps.gov/yose/planyourvisit/reservations**
